Merimbula

Short Point beach or Short Point Headland - a difficult choice to be made - both stunning options on the far south coast of NSW.

Location Highlights: If you're not a local you will be amazed at how beautiful this part of the world is - perfect beaches, un-spoilt stretches of coastline and dreamy crystal-clear water. The beach option will give you that barefoot daydream vibe, or the headland option has panoramic views to give you the epic backdrop your big day deserves.

Local features: Merimbula has the very chilled out vibe everyone wants for an elopement. You will find yourselves coming back year after year to re-live the memories.

Important things to note: Having the choice between a rocky headland and a true sandy beach ceremony location means you have lots of bases covered in terms of windy or very hot days. And if you're 'lucky' and it rains on your wedding day there's a nice shelter here where you will still have ocean views.

Other places you might consider: We have quite a few coastal locations in NSW so you have lots of options to consider: Batemans Bay, Berrara, Burril Lake, Byron Bay. In fact, we have beach locations all over Australia, and lots of non-beach options to consider too.

Shellharbour, NSW

Just north of Kiama and south of Shellharbour, Bass Point is a magical patch of paradise by the sea. This sea-side location is perfect for a sweet and intimate elopement - especially for beach lovers who want to say I do with a magnificent view.

Location highlights:  This stretch of the coastline is spectacular, with its rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and pristine waters. We have chosen this location for the majesty it offers as a back-drop to your special day. It will offer you privacy and intimacy for your ceremony, as the winding trails along the cliff allow you to be entirely alone if you wish. You and your partner (and your celebrant and at least 2 witnesses) can soak up this moment feeling emersed in the natural beauty of the Aussie coastline. The awe-inspiring view will take your breath away.

Local features: Our Bass Point ceremony feels isolated and intimate but is actually really close to a wide range of accommodation and hospitality options - check out Kiama and Shellharbour for places to toast to your happily ever after.

Important things to note: This location has limited availability. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Other locations to consider: For other south coast locations, including Wollongong, and Batemans Bay - check out all our NSW locations.

Hidden amongst the world- famous beaches of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Sydney-siders and elopers alike will love this quiet ceremony location with the most incredible view.

Location highlights: If you're up for a short scramble over the rocks (safe, but maybe take off those heels) you can have your ceremony in the most epic cliff top location. Private and other-worldly, your photos will be incredible and you will feel like the only people on earth. You also have the choice to stay on the grassy, easily accessed hilltop with views over Sydney's famous beaches.  For a seaside wedding in Sydney's East you will be amazed at how much privacy this spot has (did we mention it's a bit of a secret).  Oh, and it it's raining, and you hire one of our partner photographers, ask them about the secret cave.

Local features: The cliff lines 'round this area are spectacular - so unique and perfect for photos. Then of course the beaches are world famous, so pop down onto the white sand for some of your photos before choosing one of the millions of amazing local restaurants to celebrate at.

Caves Beach, NSW

Our Caves Beach location is perfect for anyone wanting a really relaxed wedding in a beautiful, peaceful location.  With some of the most stunning beaches in NSW, Lake Macquarie locals will be able to continue to enjoy their ceremony location on anniversaries (or just whenever) for years to come. Anyone considering eloping to the Central Coast / Lake Macquarie area will have the most magical and relaxed experience here.

Location highlights: This is an insta-worthy location for your wedding, with white sand and a very back-to-nature vibe.  But you'd already know that if you're a local. There's no need to travel anywhere else for a beautiful wedding when you live on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. And, bonus for pet owners, this is a dog friendly beach, so you can bring your fur babies if you want to.

Local features:  At low tide you will love the photos you can get in the caves at the southern end of the beach. These ancient stone formations by the sparkling sea   create a breathtaking coastal paradise unlike any other. Easy parking, close to popular reception venues and more casual dining options. If you are eloping here, the neighbouring Caves Beach resort is a lovely place to spend your honeymoon.

Important things to note:  There is very little shade here, so in mid-summer we recommend early morning or late evening ceremony times.  In certain places on the beach phone reception is very patchy, so it isn't ideal if you wish to video call family for your ceremony. If you want to avoid the sand, we can hold the ceremony on a grassy area overlooking the beach. Just let your celebrant know.

Accessibility: It is tricky to access the beach, so not suitable for mobility impaired guests or couples. If you are happy to have the ceremony on the grass overlooking the beach there is level access to an area we can use- note that the path is unpaved (a mix of grass/ dirt/ sand). We have had wheelchair users navigate this path easily before, but it might not be suitable for everyone.

Other locations to consider: Another great location for a relaxed wedding ceremony very close by - check out our Newcastle park location. For locations further afield, including QLD, Byron Bay, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth check our list of relaxed wedding locations.

Port Macquarie, NSW

Port Macquarie is perfect for couples wanting to have a relaxed ceremony, without too much fuss or drama or associated expense. Its stunningly beautiful here- but it's almost as if nobody else has noticed. Perfect for two people wanting an intimate elopement.

Location highlights: The best thing about this location is the option to choose a stunning headland with 180-degree water views and a charming 1870s lighthouse or, get right down on the sand and get married on the beach. Both are beautiful, so it's a hard choice. From the headland you might even spot a passing whale. On the beach the solitude and serenity, clear water and pristine sand will make your heart sing.

Local features: Port Macquarie isn't as overrun by tourists as other destination wedding locations can be. You will feel like the only two love birds on the face of the earth.  Find a romantic BnB or a luxury resort and celebrate here for as long as you can.

Important things to note:  If you want to get married on the sand in summer try to choose a late afternoon, or maybe even a very early ceremony time. Or choose the headland option, where you can find some shade.

Get married outside in a funky parkland setting, and get some amazing photos. More private, more affordable and more beautiful.

Location highlights: The brickworks is a truly unique location that will pleasantly surprise. The brickworks ruins offer a captivating and unique backdrop for your special day, that will unforgettable and unlike any other ceremony you have been to.  The historic weathered brick walls and rustic charm create a romantic and nostalgic atmosphere. The venue's historic allure juxtaposed with the natural parkland setting provide breathtaking photo opportunities.  You'll love the brickwork arch that still stands amongst the rubble, creating a perfect arbor for your ceremony.  There is shade here on hot days and a big shelter if it happens to rain.

Local features: Easily accessed from all over Sydney, and convenient for parking and transport. There's also a council owned hall here if you're interested in a self-catering option for a post-ceremony party.

Elopements on the South Coast of NSW are absolute perfection. Especially for couples from Sydney or Canberra who want to elope to a coastal location they can re-visit for holidays for years to come.

Location Highlights: This is a very pretty place to tie the knot. We've chosen a little reserve adjacent to the quaint and peaceful lagoon, and just a few steps from the Ocean. The dunes and sandbars, native negotiation and romantic boardwalks will give you plenty opportunities to sneak off on your own for a quiet moment after your ceremony to enjoy the view. You might even want to let your photographer join you.

Location Highlights: At this location you have the choice of a true beach wedding right on the sand in a tiny little, relatively private area of Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Or, you can keep your shoes on and just admire the view from the lookout while you say I Do. This patch of the Northern Beaches isn’t as busy as many others, so you won’t be lost in a crowd. Parking is a little easier too! The area of beach we use is a small pocket of sand at one end of the main beach, separated from all the activity by a rock pool, so there’s a little more peace and quiet than you’d expect to find with a Sydney beach wedding.
